Berkley R. Bush, 90, died Wednesday, February 5, 2014. Born February 26, 1923, in Toledo, OH, Berkley lived from 1925 to 2012 on South Main Street in Sylvania on property that had been in his family since 1897. A resident of Sunset Village in Sylvania since 2012, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Helen Stauffer Bush in May, 2013.
A 1941 graduate of Burnham High School, Berkley attended the University of Toledo. He joined Libbey-Owens-Ford in 1951, and retired in 1987 as vice president of manufacturing services.
Berkley was a life long member of the Sylvania United Church of Christ. He was an active fundraiser in the community for the United Way, the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) and the Boy Scouts of America.
In addition to his wife, Berkley was preceded in death by his parents, William and Gertrude Bush. He is survived by two daughters, Helen (Ed) White of Sylvania, OH, and Barbara (Charles) Bennett of Sacramento, CA. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Edward (Rae) White of College Station, TX, Katherine (Philip) Miller of Menlo Park, CA, Amy Bennett of Sacramento, CA, and Susan (Chris) Greene of Stockton, CA; as well as five great grandchildren.
