Odessa L. Reddick, 89, of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully January 30, 2014, at Heartland of Perrysburg. Odessa was born to the union of Herman Sr. and Elma (Johnson) Martin in Decatur, Alabama on December 1, 1925.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Sr.; son, Ricky; parents; two brothers and five sisters.
Odessa was employed by the state hospital for 30 years, retiring in 1976. She also worked at Lott Industries as a supervisor. She enjoyed reading the Bible, cooking and doing hair.
Odessa accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was a faithful member of Parkwood Seventh Day Adventist Church, serving as a deaconess for many years.
Odessa leaves to cherish her memories, sons, Dale Martin, Melvin Reddick Jr. and Marvin Reddick; daughter, Marsha Reddick and step-daughter, Francis Corkley; brothers, James (Juanita) Martin, Donald (Anita) Martin Sr. and David (Susie) Martin Sr.; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 10, 2014, at Parkwood Seventh Day Adventist Church. Visitation will start at 10 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. Pastor MacKenzie Kambizi officiating. Interment to follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
