Lawrence "Larry" W.
Lawrence "Larry" Walter Oberski, 61 years, of Temperance, MI passed away Thursday, February 13, 2014. He retired from Federal Express in December 2012, leaving a trail of friends and memories behind. The son of Vincent P. and Josephine (Sulinski) Oberski, he was born October 23, 1952, in Toledo, OH. Larry proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1970-74 as an aircraft mechanic. He serviced the SR71 plane that broke the speed record for transcontinental flight.
Larry was a wonderful and kind man to all who knew him. He had a love of the outdoors and a stronger love for his family. With no children of his own, he spoiled his nieces and nephews and more so his great-nieces and nephews, which he loved as his own. He was a very selfless man, helping anyone, anywhere, anytime. Larry celebrated his retirement by visiting family and friends and going to the sporting events of his "children".
He enjoyed bringing the harvest of local farmers to his loved ones. Larry was an outstanding fisherman who won't be missed by the fish in the Black and Cheboygan Rivers. What will be missed is his games and antics played during holidays that brought joy and memories to all. Welcome home Uncle Larry, "C-Ya!"
He is survived by his sister, Joyce (Joseph) Szpila; brothers, Vince "Butch" (Lois) Oberski, Dennis (Vicki) Oberski; nieces, Allison (Scott) Frey, Caitlin Szpila, Jennifer Oberski, Samantha Oberski; nephews, Michael (Mandy) Oberski, Daniel (Tricia) Oberski; great-nieces, Grace, Claire Oberski; great-nephews, Brian, Scott, Bret, Derek Oberski, Collin Evers; brothers by friendship, Larry Zdanio and Richard Nagel. He was preceded in death by his parents and many uncles and aunts.
