REDHEAD

Lena Kathryn

Lena K. Redhead, age 84, formerly of Stony Ridge, OH and Luckey, OH and most recently of Toledo, OH passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, OH. She was born on June 26, 1929, in Stony Ridge, OH to George and Katie (Einviller) Young. On April 9, 1955, she married David Lee Redhead in Luckey, OH, whom she met while roller skating at the rink in Grand Rapids, OH. He preceded her in death on August 1, 2006. Lena was a wonderful homemaker and loved family gatherings. She also enjoyed polka dancing in Deshler with her sisters, Mary and Betty, and going to the East Toledo Senior Center. At home she enjoyed putting together puzzles and when she was younger she loved gardening, especially tending to her beautiful roses.

Lena is survived by her children, daughter, Roseann (David) Mapa of Toledo; son, Roger (Rabecca) Redhead of Cottage Grove, OR; granddaughters, Shannon Onstot of California, Andrea Onstot of New York; sisters, Mary Jacobs and Elizabeth "Betty" Birdsell both of Toledo, and sister-in-law, Nancy Redhead of Medford, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, David, and brothers, Joe (Betty) Young and George (Harriet) Young.

As per Lena's wishes, there will be no visitation services. A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 21, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Troy Twp. Cemetery, Luckey, OH. Lena did not want flowers or memorial donations given, but rather that each of us would truly cherish each member of our families and to make every effort to spend time together while you can. And most especially, learn to forgive. If there is one thing she hoped to impart in life it is this: learn to forgive. Forgive as you go, forgive the deep hurts of the past. Be courageous; be the initiator, be the one to forgive. There is no higher road in life. Lena and her husband David united in love, and exemplified unconditional love consistently throughout their lives. It may be said of them both that they finished well, and are now reunited with each other and the Lord Jesus in eternal glory. Romans 13:8 ~ "Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law." Arrangements are being handled by the Marsh Funeral Home, Luckey, OH.
