Richard D. Permar, 66, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014, surrounded by his loving family in Ft. Myers, Florida. Dick was born in Toledo, Ohio on April 5, 1947, to Frank and Bessie (Dietz) Permar. He was a 1965 graduate of Woodward High School. On September 17, 1966, he married his high school sweetheart, Melvia Lindsey.

Dick served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era. Dick worked in steel sales for Toledo Pickling and Ciralsky Steel for many years and later worked in the lawn and garden department at Sears. Dick and Melvia enjoyed listening to oldies music, especially The Watermelon Men and Phil Dirt and the Dozers who they faithfully followed since 1970. He enjoyed bowling and loved the game of golf. He was a longtime member of Sugar Creek Golf Course and Chippewa Golf Club where he hit a Hole-in-One on hole # 9. After hitting his Hole-in-One, Dick was affectionately known by his grandchildren as "Papa Ace." Dick also enjoyed playing cards, watching Jeopardy, and was always quick with a joke. His true passion was spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and friends who he loved dearly.

Dick is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Melvia; daughters, Betty (Dan) Base, and Michelle (Andrew) Schultz; grandchildren, Jessica, Zachary, and Nicholas Base and Emelie and Carly Schultz; brother, William Permar; mother-in-law, Doris Lindsey; sisters-in-law, Carol Permar, Barbara (Pete) Atherine, Jeannie Lindsey; brothers-in-law, Robert (Sandy Russell) Lindsey Jr., David (Kathy) Lindsey, and Donald Lindsey; along with longtime dear friends, David (Marrilee) Hitchen. Dick is also survived by many nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Permar, and father-in-law, Robert Lindsey.
