Barbara A. Meszaros, age 73, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio, surrounded by her loving family. A native of Toledo, Barb was born July 12, 1940, to the late Gladys (Kiser) and Louis Fleming.
After graduating from Whitney High School and The University of Toledo, she worked for Penta County Career Center for 30 years as a cosmetology teacher. She enjoyed her time at Penta and often expressed her passion for teaching. While working there, the students often referred to her as "Mrs. M" and formed a strong friendship with her that lasted long after high school.
Upon her retirement, she wintered in Bradenton, Florida. An avid collector of Eeyores, Barb also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, swimming, and hosting outdoor get-togethers. She loved quilting and crocheting, which allowed her to be involved in making booties for premature babies. She also was active with many organizations including the Red Hatters and embroidery and noodle making at Calvin United Reform Church and St. John's Lutheran Church. Another one of her favorite activities was being able to go to church and spend time with her loving God. However, Barbara was mostly known for her devotion to her family as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 53 years, Lajos (Louis); children, Barbara Luce (James), Eva Nickles (Scott), Louis Meszaros (Rhonda), and David Meszaros (Eva); grandchildren, Kayla, Ericca, Victor, Annah-Claire, Evan, Vincent, and Sophia. Barbara was preceded in death by 1 brother, 3 sisters, and granddaughter, Olivia Catherine Meszaros.
Visitation will be held at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, 440 South Coy Road in Oregon on Friday, March 28, from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., then proceeding to St. John Lutheran Church 21140 West Toledo St., Williston, Ohio for funeral services at 1:00 p.m.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Gentiva Hospice and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for everything they did to make Barbara comfortable and at peace. Memorial contributions are suggested to the War Dogs, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, and Gentiva Hospice. Online condolences can be expressed at
