Nicholas A. Janowitz, 88, of Sylvania, OH, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at his residence. He was born April 27, 1925, in Cleveland, OH, to Alexander and Stella (Kruchek) Janowitz.
Nicholas served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of Ohio State, "GO BUCKS". Nicholas married his sweetheart, Jane H. Zabohonski, March 29, 1948, and they just celebrated 66 years of bliss together. He worked as an insurance inspector for Travelers Insurance Company for many years. Nicholas has been a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church since 1974, where he served as a Eucharistic minister. He was a past member of Knights of Columbus, enjoyed camping, traveling and a sports enthusiast of football, baseball and the Ohio State Buckies.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jane H. Janowitz; daughters, Madeline (Ron) Rothman; Diane (Guy) Cornett; sons, Alexander and Joseph Janowitz; 4 cherished grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren. Nicholas's parents preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St., Sylvania, OH, (today) Thursday, April 3, from 4 to 8 p.m. with a scripture service at 6 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Friday, April 4, at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5373 S. Main St., Sylvania, OH.
Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Those wishing to give a memorial, in lieu of flowers, are asked to consider the church.
