Caroline Dorothy (Stechbart) Peters, 91, of Toledo passed away April 2, 2014.
Caroline or Kelly, as she was known to her friends, was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 6, 1922, to William and Caroline (Pinkert) Stechbart, the youngest of three girls. She graduated in 1939 from Southeastern High School in Detroit, before going to work as a secretary at Household Finance. She then worked for the district manager of Shell Oil Company in Detroit, until her marriage to Paul Peters in 1949, when they moved to Toledo, Ohio. Kelly enjoyed raising their son, David, for several years before returning to work in 1958 for the Toledo Public Schools at DeVilbiss High School. She then worked as the secretary to the Superintendent of TPS, until her
retirement in 1986.
Kelly was a Red Cross volunteer during WWII, member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Memorial Lutheran Church Altar Guild, and the Toledo Club where she loved to swim. She and her husband, Paul, loved to travel, particularly throughout Europe. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a special fondness for all of the four-legged members of the family too. She loved to cook and bake, listen to
classical music, do crossword puzzles, and shop.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William
and Caroline Stechbart; two
sisters, Martha and Agnes Stechbart; and her husband of 42 years, Paul Peters. She is survived by her beloved son, David (Susan) Peters; grandchildren, David (Michelle) Peters and Megan (Nick) Tucholski; great-grandchildren, Finnegan and Tate Peters and Reece Tucholski, and godson, Larry (Julie) Nall, of Nashville, TN.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 6, 2014, at the Foth-Dorfmeyer Mortuary, 3815 Sylvania Ave at Woodley Rd. from 1-6 p.m. Funeral
services will be held on Monday, April 7, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Memorial Lutheran Church, 3215 Douglas Road. A memorial lunch at Memorial Lutheran Church will immediately follow interment at Toledo Memorial Park.
