Wilma Jean "Jeanne"



Wilma "Jeanne" Sperber, 88, of South Toledo passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 3, 2014, after a brief

illness. Jeanne was born on August 24, 1925, in Toledo, Ohio. She attended Libbey High School and grew up in south Toledo. Jeanne was

an Executive Secretary at Hillfinger Corporation and later, Owens Illinois. She had the distinction of being one of the first Certified Professional Secretaries in Toledo. Jeanne was a member of Palestine Chapter O.E.S #51

Jeanne enjoyed bowling, golf, card club, reading, Facebook and cuddling with her cat, Baby. She was a Board member of Merickel-Farley Trout Club and served as the organization's treasurer for many years.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, Ueckert and Fontella Sperber; older sister, Catharine E. Standley and beloved brother-in-law, Herbert "Bud" Minke.

Jeanne is survived by her brother, Kevin (Shirley) Sperber and sister, Cleo Minke; as well as the most important people in her life, her nine nieces and nephews that she raised like they were her own. In addition, she had 24 great-nieces and nephews, 31 great-great-nieces and nephews and 10 great-great-great-nieces and nephews, all of which loved "Aunt Jeanne" deeply.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Mike, Cheryl, and Angie.

Family and friends may call at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, on Sunday, April 6, from noon till 1 p.m. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Jeanne's name, are requested to be made to Planned Pethood.
