Barbara Jean


Barbara Jean Martin, age 85, of Temperance passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014, in the Franciscan Care Center of Sylvania. Barbara was a devout Catholic. Her grade school years with St. Agnes and Central Catholic for High School. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Temperance, MI and spent many years volunteering for all the churches they belonged to. Barbara loved to cook for her family and friends, she also enjoyed entertaining for the holidays and card clubs. She also had great dedication in attending her grandchildren's sporting and art events. Barbara enjoyed traveling long distances for their memorable occasions. She also enjoyed bargain shopping and garage sales.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Barbara is survived by her husband of 63 years, Orval; children, Monica (Richard) Rice, Connie (Terry) Kogowski and Brad (Diana) Martin; grandchildren, Corey Dunmead, Kimberly Rice, Lindsay (Bobby) Oberschlake, Tyler Rice, Samantha Martin and Mitchell Martin. Also surviving is her brother, Donald (Waneta) Schuster.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 15, 2014, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Urbanski's Bedford Funeral Chapel, 8300 Lewis Ave., Temperance, MI where the rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Temperance where she will lie in state after 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Sister Jordan and the wonderful staffs of The Franciscan Care Center and Hospice of Northwest Ohio. In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's of Northwest Ohio, Franciscan Care Center, Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the Bedford Senior Center.
