Anna Josephine (Polesovsky)

Anna Josephine Stevens passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Avalon by Otterbein in Monclova. Josephine was born on February 25, 1923, to Steve and Anna Polesovsky in Toledo, Ohio.

She lived most of her life in South Toledo and attended Harvard Grade School and graduated from Libbey High School in 1941. Josephine was employed for ten years as secretary to the Dept. of Anesthesiology at the Medical College of Ohio from September, 1970 to July, 1980. Later, she worked in the Medical Records Dept. in several nursing homes.

She enjoyed making cookies and her favorite pretzels and giving them away. She was called "The Cookie Lady." Josephine loved playing Bunco with her group of eight from South Toledo; which have been together for over sixty years. She also enjoyed playing Bingo once a week, since moving to the Louisiana House. She was a member of C.S.A. and New Hope United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Anna Polesovsky; brothers, Frank, who was killed in Okinawa, George and Steve, Jr.; sister, Helen Straka. She is survived by her children, Judy (Dave) Walrod and Ron (Linda) Stevens. Also surviving are her grandchildren, David (Lynne), Bryant (Norah) and Marc (Kim) Walrod and Scott (Jenn, fiancé) and Lori Stevens, and great-grandchildren, Jacob, Caitlyn and Brandon Walrod and Taylor Stevens.

Friends may call at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Ave. on Thursday, April 24, 2014, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 25th at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the Staff at Otterbein in Monclova for all their compassionate care. Contributions may be given to Make a Wish Foundation.
