Stephen D. Evers, 58 of Toledo, Ohio, left the comfort of his wife's embrace to be with the Lord, April 25, 2014. He was born in Toledo Ohio on February 7, 1956. He was a devoted and thoughtful son to his parents, Orville and Velma (Green) Hendershott. Stephen was a 1974 graduate of Whitmer High School.

On November 19, 1973 he

married the love of his life, Patricia (Patty) Grosteffon. Their love and devotion for each other never waned throughout their 41 years

together, for which he was so proud.

Stephen was a dedicated and hard working tool and dye maker. He began his career at Quality Tool and Dye

before moving on to the Ford Motor Company, where he spent a further 34 years, for which he took much pride. He was a member of the

Local UAW #387. He also spent several years teaching the vocation that he excelled at, at the Toledo Technology Academy.

Stephen lived life to the fullest and was most passionate about his family. He enjoyed fishing, garage sales, and car auctions. He loved nothing more than taking his growing family, whom he cherished, up north for swimming, four wheeling, fishing and canoeing down the Ausable River. A very loving husband, dad and best known for being Papa Steve; he adored all of his grandchildren and dedicated much of his spare time to support them in their

activities. His grandchildren range in age from 19 down to 3, yet he had the unique ability to have a special connection with each and every one of them.

He is survived by a cherished wife, Patricia "Patty"; children, Patricia "Trish" (Michael II) Box, Stephanie Evers Malan, Stephen

(Andrea) Evers; father,

Orville; 8 grandchildren,

Miami Box, Jessica Box, Mikki Box, Bobbi Box,

Annabelle Malan, Skot

Malan, Cody Malan, and

Taylor Malan; brother,

Richard (Denise) Russell; sister, Deanna Hendershott and many loved nieces and

nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Velma Hendershott.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Thursday May 1, 2014 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. in Urbanski's Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave., Temperance, MI, where the Funeral service will be held Friday May 2, 2014 at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in the Toledo Memorial Park.
