Paul Francis, Sr.
Paul Keeler, age 81, was born in Toledo, OH to William and Mary Keeler on January 1, 1933 and passed away peacefully on April 26, 2014, with family by his side.
Paul was a 1951 graduate of Burnham High School in Sylvania.
Paul's hobby was his yard. He loved his green lawn and no dandelions or weeds ever dared intrude on it. He was always there to help his family and friends with any project. There was nothing he couldn't build, remodel or repair and he was always available for any family member or friend.
Paul married Justine Keeler in 1953. They raised their eight children in the house where they lived for 53 years. During this time, Paul personally expanded the house to accommodate his growing family.
He worked 30 years at the Sylvania Post Office, retiring in 1986. During his time there, he was a letter carrier and later a supervisor.
Paul is survived by his wife of 61 years, Justine. Their children include, Daniel (Dianne), of Centerville, OH; Nicholas (Kathy) of Grand Rapids, MI; Pauline Rower of Sylvania; Philip of Puyallup, WA; Denise Poor (Ralph) of Toledo; Neal of Reading MI; Paul Jr. (Brenda), of Umatilla OR; and Nancy Baumbarger (Corey) of Grand Rapids, OH.
His grandchildren are, Christine, Kevin, Timothy, Matthew J., Robert, Jennie, Katie, Matthew P., Emily, Codie, Hannah, Haley, Wesley, Ethan and Logan; 16 great-grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren and 5 step great-grandchildren.
Other family members include his brothers - Joseph (Kate) Keeler, Gerald (Ellen) Keeler, and Robert (Sandy) Keeler and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Frances; parents, William and Mary Keeler; siblings Leonard Keeler, Rita Schmerge, Mary Margaret Dickens and grandson, Adam Poor.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday April 30, 2014, from 3:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 Main St, Sylvania. A Mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sylvania, where the family will greet guests one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
