Anne (Kornowa) Shindel passed away in her home surrounded by loved ones on May 1, 2014. She was born September 7, 1927, in Toledo, Ohio to Michael and Magdalena (Cieply) Kornowa. She graduated from Woodward High School in 1945, and also attended The University of Toledo.

In 1948, she married the love of her life, Hal Shindel. After working as a secretary at E. W. Bliss Co. and also several years for WSPD Radio in commercial scheduling, she and Hal began raising their four children in their west Toledo home. As a homemaker, Anne loved baking for her family and always had homemade cookies waiting as after school treats, along with cakes or pies for desserts after homemade meals. She and Hal also shared a love of bread baking, especially at the holidays when coffee cakes, nut breads, and cabbage stuffed pampushky would fill the kitchen table. As a huge Detroit Tigers fan, she enjoyed watching games on TV or spending summer evenings sitting on the porch listening to them on the radio.

She was a life-long member of St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Rossford, Ohio, where she loved singing in the choir. She also enjoyed making pyrohy for the church while socializing with her many close friends. At Easter time she loved making Ukrainian Easter eggs, a tradition she passed down to her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Hal; two infant sons; sister, Mary Pelechaty; brothers, Andrew, Paul, David, and John Kornowa; sisters-in-law, Ruth and Mary Jo Kornowa, and brother-in-law, John Pelechaty. She is survived by sister, Natalie Kornowa;

sisters-in-law, Bernadine and Dottie Kornowa; children, Matthew (Lydia) Shindel, Barbara (Barry) Quattromani, Susan (Ihor) Maksymiak, and Robert (Karin) Shindel; grandchildren, Laura and Sarah, Thomas and Andrew, and Anne and Natalie, and great- grandchild, Mason.

Family would like to extend a special thanks to Connie, Tiffany, Aubry, Cindy, and Tim for their loving care and support.
