Shelley Lehnert Obituary

Shelley S.

Shelley S. Lehnert, who spent a lifetime caring about her closest friends and family and who firmly believed in helping those less fortunate, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014, in Toledo following a short illness. She was 56.

Shelley, of Whitehouse, graduated from Bowsher High School in 1976. She had spent more than 30 years in the mental health profession working as a unit clerk at St. Charles Hospital and the University of Toledo Medical Center.

As a member of Cedar Creek Church, she was very active as a greeter and often made breakfast for members of the church's music ministry. She also volunteered at Vision Kitchen, a ministry of CedarCreek.tv, which provides hot meals four days a week in South Toledo. She cared for animals and people alike, and was very giving to family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, David Osterhout; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jack and Lillian Lehnert, and brother-in-law, Tom Lehnert.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Chuck; daughters, Kimberly (Haraz) Ghanbari and Stephanie Lehnert, and granddaughter, Madison; mother, Janice Osterhout; sisters, Jamye (Roy) Schneider and Gwen (Jim) McDonald; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Cedar Creek Church's Perrysburg campus located at 29129 Lime City Road. Shelley's uncle, Butch Rode, and Cedar Creek Pastor Ben Snyder will officiate. The family will receive guests beginning at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the following causes that Shelley was passionate about: Cedar Creek Church (Vision Kitchen - Feeding the Hungry), Cedar Creek Church (Combating human trafficking in Maldova), and The Toledo Humane Society.
