Maxine Williams Obituary

Maxine F.

Maxine F. Williams, age 81 of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2014, at Flower Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born on March 6, 1933, to Clara and Edward Armbruster in Marion, Ohio. Maxine married Charles Williams on May 29, 1950, and together they had 7 children.

While raising her kids, Maxine sold Avon in her neighborhood. You could often find her walking or riding her bike to deliver her orders, which could take hours since she always enjoyed stopping to visit with her customers and new friends. Once her children were older, Maxine worked at Otto's Variety Store for 15 years as a sales associate. Maxine was well known at the store, where many customers knew her by name.

Maxine was an active member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Sylvania, Ohio, and she loved to purchase items for the various charity drives at the church for families in need. When not relaxing by the pool or reading, Maxine cherished the time she spent with her family, and enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in their various activities. Maxine was a strong, outgoing woman, whose family will dearly miss her and her fearless manner of speaking her mind.

Maxine is survived by her husband, Charles; sons, Greg and Joel (Heidi); daughters, Debbie (Mike) Ball, Vickie Rygalski, Becky (Jim Rousos) Henderson, Lauri (Brent) Wilson, and Tina Williams; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother, James Armbruster; sisters, Margie Robertson and Mary Obenour. She was preceded in death by her parents and 7 brothers and sisters.

The family will receive guests on Friday, May 16, 2014, at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 7800 Erie Street, Sylvania, from 4-8 p.m. A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at St. Stephen Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior.
