Raymond John Sr. "Dzia Dzia"

Raymond John Kosmider Sr., age 86, passed away May 29, 2014, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg Care Center. He was born August 19, 1927, to John and Pauline (Krolak) Kosmider in Toledo, OH.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Donald and John Kosmider. Raymond was World War II veteran of the Merchant Marine and then served his country again in Korea as a member of the Army's 63rd Infantry. He was employed at Allied Chemical Company for 39 years, retiring in 1991. Raymond was a parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church, where he was an usher and a member of the Holy Name Society. He was a 4th degree knight, charter member and first recording secretary in the Knights of Columbus St. Lawrence Council 4196. Raymond was also a member of UAW Local 12 and VFW Post 5530. A gentle and loving person who always put others first, he was fond of writing little love notes to his wife, Delphine. Every Saturday, he loved going fishing on Lake Erie.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 62 years, Delphine Kosmider; daughter, Sandy (Jeff) Summers; sons, Don (Debby) Kosmider and Ray (Sue) Kosmider Jr.; sister, Shirley (Ron) Velliquette; grandchildren, Jay, Evan, Paige, Dan and Dana Kosmider and Brooke Summers; great-granddaughter, Izabella Kosmider, and special nephew, Richard Blawat.

Family and friends may visit Monday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. where members of VFW Post 5530 will lead a service at 6:30 p.m. A scripture service will then begin at 7:00 p.m. followed by the 4th degree presentation by the Knights of Columbus. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Adalbert Church. Services will conclude with Military Honors by the Lucas County Burial Corps in Resurrection Cemetery.
