Harold Bland, age 78, of Toledo, passed away suddenly in Angola, IN, May 30, 2014. He graduated from Waite High School while working for the A&P Grocery Store, rising from entry level to Manager of Produce. Following graduation, Harold met and later married the love of his life Bonnie Knopp in 1957. It was then he began a 43 year career as Manager of the Westgate Shopping Center. He spent every day making sure the center ran smoothly and making lifetime friendships as well. Together Harold and Bonnie raised four daughters and will be remembered as a man who had a deep commitment to his family and knew how to have fun. He was an avid fisherman, bowler, Ohio State and Detroit Tiger fan and always had time for a game of any kind especially cards!
Harold was preceded in death by his father, Walter Bland; mother, Mattie (nee Gates) Bland; and brother, AD "Albert" Bland.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 58 years, Bonnie Bland; daughters, Kim Dockery, Karrie (Ron) Warsaw, Dena (Terry) Barror, and Beckie White; sisters, Louise (Wes) Pickens, Barbara Seiple of S. Carolina; grandchildren, Michelle Leady, Dawn (Fred) Borgerson, Jeremy Barror, Kirk (Kate) Bell, Michael (Barbara) Johnson, Samuel (Jenny) Johnson, Kristen Staler; 18 special great-grandchildren and many life long friends.
The family will receive friends at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main Street, Sylvania, Ohio, Tuesday, June 3, 2014, 3 p.m. - 8 p.m., where the funeral will be held Wednesday, June 4, 2014, 11 a.m. with family receiving friends 1 hour prior.
