Salvatore "Sam" J.

Salvatore "Sam" J. Cipriani, 93, formerly of Maumee, Ohio, died Tuesday morning, June 17, 2014, in the Genoa Retirement Village. Sam was born December 9, 1920, in Toledo, Ohio, to Frank and Maria (DeMario) Cipriani. He married Frances Feudi, who preceded him in death November 13, 2000. Sam retired as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Maumee and had previously worked as an iron worker on various projects across the United States. During WWII, he served in the Army Air Corps as a radio operator. As Sam grew older, he enjoyed sleeping in, growing a few flowers and vegetables, a daily glass of wine and feeding "his" birds!

Sam is survived by his son, Michael J. (Bonnie) Cipriani of Elmore; grandson, Joseph M. (Kimberly) Cipriani of Elmore, and great-grandson, Nicolas "Nico" Cipriani. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Frances; son, Lorenzo "Larry," and sisters, Vincenza "Jennie" Sauro and Anna Boltman.

A graveside service for Sam will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, June 20, 2014, in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Maumee, Ohio. Memorials may be directed to the Genoa Retirement Village, 300 Cherry St., Genoa, OH 43430. The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory of Genoa has assisted the family with arrangements.
