Florence Rose (Flynn)

Florence Rose (Flynn) Wannemacher passed away unexpectedly, June 11, 2014, at her home in Florence, Kentucky. Florence was born December 21, 1923, to Frank and Margaret Flynn in Jersey City, New Jersey. She was the seventh of nine children.

Marriage brought her to Toledo, Ohio where she was a lifelong resident. In addition to being a single full-time parent, she entered the work force at First National Bank and, later, at The Toledo Hospital in the accounts payable department, from which she retired on July 29, 1988, at the age of 64. Not wishing to remain idle, Florence became employed by St. Pius X School, supervising their morning child care program until the age of 81. The children, as well as their parents, loved her warmth and caring.

Florence was perceived by many as courageous, selfless, devoted and fun-loving. Family embodied her reason for living. Though facing the daily challenges of aging, she never wavered from her love and devotion to them. The Lord has taken Florence for his own, but her memory remains eternal in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Florence is survived by her sister, Agnes Farkas, Princeton, New Jersey; daughters, Linda (Reynold) Gerson, North Port, FL, Cinda (David) Strick, Rochester, MN, Deborah (Scott) Robinson, Scottsdale, AZ; grandchildren, Carrie (Brent) Stover, Florence, KY, Ashley Robinson and Melissa Robinson, Scottsdale, AZ, Andrew Strick, Rochester, MN; great-grandsons, Ethan and Blake Stover. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Margaret Flynn; brothers, Joseph, William, Charles, James, and George; sisters, Catherine Ward and Marion Bellinato.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Timothy Church, July 11, at 10 a.m., visitation to precede at 9 a.m. Internment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Ft. Wright, KY. Because of Florence's love of children, her family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Online condolences may be made at
