Gene W. Parker, age 84, of Ottawa Hills passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014, in her home surrounded by her family. She was born March 9, 1930, on Davenport Iowa to Clarence and Genevieve Webster. She graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in home economics and was a member of Alpha Chi Omega after she was at Ohio State. Early in her career she was the secretary to the Food and Nutrition Board of the National Academy of Sciences in Washington D.C. She married William Parker, July 5, 1953, in Chevy Chase, Maryland and retired to raise her family. Gene was a member of the Inverness Club and Epworth United Methodist Church. She enjoyed golf but especially enjoyed being a mother, grandmother and homemaker.
Surviving is her husband of 61 years, Bill Parker; daughter, Genette (Danny) Cramer, and grandchildren, Lee Parker Cramer and Gene Ann Cramer.
Friends will be received at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey) on Wednesday after 9 a.m., where funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Bloomingburg, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests any memorials be in the form of contributions to Bittersweet Farms, 12660 Archbold-Whitehouse Rd., Whitehouse, OH 43571. Condolences may be sent to the family at
