Shirley Pooley Obituary

Shirley Jean (Zaenger)

Shirley Jean (Zaenger) Pooley, born July 11, 1941, and residing in Lambertville, MI, went to be with our Lord Jesus early Sunday morning, June 22, 2014. Shirley, the daughter of Herbert and Jeannette (Lowe) Zaenger, grew up in Crissey, Ohio and attended Crissey Elementary and graduated from Holland High School in 1959.

In 1961, Shirley married David Pooley and they have 2 sons, Kevin (Theresa) of Lambertville, MI and Timothy (fiancée Heather) of Louisville, KY. Shirley's pride and joy was in her 5 grandchildren, Asa, Drew, Hannah, Jaylee and Logan. Shirley has a brother, Norman (Gladys) Zaenger, living in Tennessee and a brother, Herbert (Chris) Zaenger, living in the Tiffin area. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Shirley and Dave raised their children in Toledo and Oregon, OH and later spent 13 years in Tennessee, only to return home in 2003 to the Toledo area for retirement. After raising the children Shirley worked for State Farm agents in Oregon, OH and Jackson, TN where she excelled as she loved meeting people and helping to solve problems. Shirley and Dave loved to travel and just last year finished a goal of visiting all the USA National Parks and all 50 states.

Shirley loved God and our Lord Jesus and often praised God for her life, family and friends. Now she looks upon their faces...how comforting! The family wishes to thank so many friends for their prayers as well as Dr. Osowik, St. Anne's and Toledo Hospital's staff and the exceptional loving wonderful caring people at Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 27th from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St., Sylvania, OH. On Saturday, June 28th a celebration of Shirley's life will be held at Lambertville United Methodist Church at the corner of Douglas and Dean Roads beginning at 10:30 a.m., with a lunch to follow. Burial will be private early Saturday morning.

In lieu of flowers, we know Shirley would be delighted if you would consider any tribute to go to either Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Lambertville United Methodist Church. Thank you!
