Richard J. "Dick"

Richard J. "Dick" Thome, age 90, passed away on July 10, 2014, at his home under the care of Gentiva Hospice. Dick was born March 1, 1924, in Toledo, Ohio to the late Walter and Mary Thome.

He is survived by his loving wife, Eileen; his daughters, Jeanne Thome, Kathleen Lepley and Marilyn (Phillip) Pine; siblings, Jane Eaton, Walter (Marie) Thome, William (Joyce) Thome and Mary Ann (Bill) Roe; many nieces and nephews and their families. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Thome.

A proud Army Air Force veteran of WWII, he served in the China Burma India Theater. After the war, he became a charter member of the CBI Veterans Association, and served as the State and Local Commander. He graduated from the University of Dayton in 1950, where he received a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. In 2000, he became a Golden Flyer as a 50 year Alum of the University.

A member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Dick was an usher, served on Parish Council, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He retired from Toledo Scale after 25 years of dedicated service.

Family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Monday at Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, 6699 N. High Street, Worthington, Ohio 43085. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter Catholic Church, 6899 Smoky Row Road, Columbus, Ohio 43235 at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 15, 2014, where family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to the time of service. Father Mark Summers, Celebrant. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Scholarship Fund or .
