Virginia Gloria Lee, age 89, of Pelham Manor, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2014, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. Virginia was born on March 25, 1925, to Fred and Inez Lee.
Virginia was a 1944 graduate of Scott High School. She worked nearly 20 years for the former Woolson Spice Co. Other employment included Kaiser Aluminum and Libby Glass. A beautiful lady both inside and out, "Gimma" or "Ginny" was also a caregiver for families in the Toledo area. She not only cared for but became an important part of the families of Matt Johnson and Katie Johnson Schaff, and Shannon and Nicole Carey. Her caring nature and kind spirit will never be forgotten by the children and families she cared for.
Virginia loved to travel, always ready for a spontaneous road trip. She loved her pets as well as everyone else's as though they were her own. She was an avid follower of the Big Band Era and a devoted and knowledgeable fan of the Glenn Miller Orchestra and Toledo's Johnny Knorr Orchestra. Virginia was a long time customer of the TARTA bus system, there wasn't a place in the city she couldn't get to.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; son, James Robert Lee; infant sister, Marilyn; her brother, James Lee, and special friend, Don. She is survived by nieces and nephews and lifelong friends, Kay Redding, Mike Brighton, Sue Kalinowski, and Mike and Barb Johnson.
Friends may call at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, Ohio, on Thursday, July 31, at 5 p.m. with a memorial service at 7 p.m.
