Marcella A.

Marcella A. Schmenk, 87, of Toledo passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at the Little Sisters of the Poor, Sacred Heart Home in Oregon. Marcella was born March 8, 1927, to Louis and Christina (Nichter) Menke in Toledo. She was a longtime member of Rosary Cathedral where she was a Sacristan and in the choir for over 25 years. Marcella was also involved in many prayer groups. She devoted most of her time to her 15 children whom she loved very much and loved spending most of her time with them and friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a smile on her face. She married Richard Schmenk on April 3, 1948, in Toledo and he was the love of her life.

Marcella was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard on November 30, 2009; sisters, Sister Rosalie Menke (Mary), Patricia Wagner, Geraldine Menke; brothers, Edward, Ken Menke; daughter-in-law, Linda Schmenk and grandsons, Jay Martin and Maximillian Klein. Surviving are her loved ones, children, Julie (John) Feick, Nancy (Jim) Madison, Marsha (Brian) Andrzejewski, Kenny (Rebecca Schultz) Schmenk, Janet (Norman) Czubek, Terry (John) Klein, Kevin (Marilyn) Schmenk, Cheryl (Dave) Kern, Belinda (Art) Martin, Mark Schmenk, Martin (Verna) Schmenk, Donna Duvendack, Lisa (Tom) Pocse, Lesley (Jeff) Sparks, Gerard (Jordona Perritt) Schmenk; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at the Dowling Funeral Home, 7509 New West Road at King Road, (King Rd between Central and Sylvania Ave.) Toledo, 419-841-8111. A visitation will also be held Friday, at 9:30 a.m. at Rosary Cathedral Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
