Carl Baldwin, age 97, of Toledo, passed away on July 31, 2014, at Sunset Village surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 12, 1916, in Toledo to J.V. and Harriet (Beecher) Baldwin. He was a 1934 Libbey High School graduate. In 1940 he married Betty Staunton in Lima, Ohio and was a devoted husband and father. Carl was a licensed pilot for over 70 years and later a flight instructor who taught many area students. He was active in many aviation organizations. He retired as a tool and die maker at GM Powertrain. He was also a longtime member of Pilgrim Church of Christ.
Carl is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Walter; his loving wife, Betty, and special friend, Adele Kaseman. Surviving are his children, son, James (Patricia) Baldwin, daughters, Sandra Chamberlain and Deborah Baldwin; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive guests Sunday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Monday at 2:30 p.m. with visitation starting at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
