Merlin D. Pollock, age 86, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2014, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, after a long battle with cancer. He was born at his home in rural Waterville on August 2, 1927, to Sidney and Elnora (Noward) Pollock. He graduated from Waterville High School in 1946. He married Lillian Cajka on April 14, 1951. He was a very devoted husband and father. Merlin was a farmer for many years before going to work for The Andersons in 1966 until his retirement in 1991. He enjoyed the work he did and the many people he worked with and met on a daily basis. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling, refurbishing farm equipment, working in his yard, riding his ATV, watching old movies, sharing his sense of humor, and just always being busy. Merlin was a member of St. Patrick's Providence and a lifelong member of Lucas County Farm Bureau.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 63 years; his son, Robert (Tammy) Pollock; daughter-in-law, Denise Pollock; daughter, Susan (Keith) Hannewald, all of Waterville; his grandsons, Brad (Erin) Pollock, Dayton, Chad Pollock (Lindsey Barts), Dayton, Michael, John, and Matt Hannewald, Waterville, and his three great-grandchildren, Emma, Jamison, and Jaxon Pollock; his twin sister, Mary (Gene) Williams, Waterville, and brother, Richard (Kathy) Pollock, Minnesota; along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jerry Pollock, and brothers, Waldo and Burton Pollock.
Visitation will begin Tuesday, August 5, 2014, from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home, 7220 Dutch Rd., Waterville, OH. A Prayer service will take place at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Parish, Grand Rapids, OH. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Waterville, OH.
