COSTAIN Edric G. Edric G. Costain, 85, of Toledo, OH, passed away September 30, 2009, at UT MC. Ed and his loving wife, Carroll were married 60 years and were blessed with 6 children, 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was born in Wheeling, WV, in 1923; entered the US Navy during WW II, serving in the Mediterranean and South Pacific. Playing basketball for the Toledo Jeeps brought him to Toledo. He drove a cab, served an apprenticeship and had numerous other jobs before beginning work as a photoengraver for the Toledo Blade for 34 years. One of his loves was sports and he coached basketball, football, track and ran the gym program at Rosary Cathedral for many years. Surviving are his wife, Carroll Ann; son, Mike (Audrey); daughters, Ann Marie Costain, Colleen (Mike) Whipple, Mary (Ron) Cameron; Kathleen (Tony) Kaminski and brother, Jim. He is predeceased by son, Patrick; brother, Sam and sister, Kathleen Cecil. The family would like to thank the staff of UT MC Neuro ICU, especially Erich, Jana and Dr. Hernandez for their compassionate, dignified care. Ed's body was donated to UT MC. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2009, 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Lourdes on Hill Avenue. In lieu of flowers the family requests that any memorials be made to Central Catholic High School (CCHS) Scholarship Fund, 2550 Cherry Street, Toledo, OH 43608.
