SMITH Larry J. Larry J. Smith, 63, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 14, 2010, at Toledo Hospital. Larry was born on January 12, 1947, in Fremont, Ohio, to Jim and Dorothy Smith. Following graduation from Capital University and Trinity Lutheran Seminary, he was ordained in 1973. He was a faithful shepherd of God's people at three congregations in Texas before accepting the call of Senior Pastor at Epiphany Lutheran Church in 1995. His love of the Lord and his unselfish and giving love for all of God's people were the hallmarks of his life and ministry. His parents preceded him in death. He is survived by the love of his life, Gwyn I. (Stroud); their three children, Tracy (Todd) Friend, Heather (Charlie) Warr and Mark (Sarah) Smith; five beautiful grandchildren and a sister, Gloria Smith, of Minneapolis, MN. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 17, in the Thomas I. Wisniewski Funeral Home, 2426 North Reynolds Rd. (419-531-4424). There will be a funeral celebration of Larry's life on Thursday, February 18, 11 a.m. at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 915 North Reynolds Rd., where the body will be in state at 10:00 a.m. Thursday. Bishop Marcus Lohrmann will preside. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Epiphany Lutheran Church or to the ELCA World Hunger Appeal at . Blessed be Larry's memory among us.
