BISCHOFF Lyle J. "Bus" Lyle J. "Bus" Bischoff, age 97, passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2010 in his Ottawa Lake, MI home, surrounded by his loving wife and family. Lyle was a lifelong farmer, retiring in 1969. He was the oldest member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, where he served as an usher. He and his wife, Joseanna were married the longest of any of the parishioners; their 73rd wedding anniversary was to take place on Saturday, August 7th, just three days after Lyle passed away. Very active in the community, Lyle was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Pioneer Farm Bureau Group, and was a founding member of the Monroe County Pony Pullers Association. He volunteered with the Whiteford Twp. Fire Department, served as Whiteford Township Treasurer for 9 years, and was on the Ottawa Lake CO-OP Elevator Board of Directors. He is survived by his loving wife, Joseanna (Cox); daughters, JoAnn (Gerald) Long, of Petersburg, Suzanne (Daniel) Keller, of Ottawa Lake, and Juanita (Louis) Strahan, of Riga; son, James (Donna) Bischoff, of Prudenville; daughter-in-law, Jodea Bischoff, of White Pigeon; sisters, Lillian Schmenk, of Hudson and Mary Stark, of Toledo; 19 grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Lyle was preceded in death by his son, Leo Bischoff; grandson, Tom Long; parents, Jacob and Eva (LaPointe) Bischoff; sisters, Dorothy, Eleanor, and Ethel, and brothers, Lester, David, and Robert. Visitation will be at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St., Sylvania, on Friday, August 6, 2010 from 3-9 PM where a scripture service will begin at 7 PM. The Funeral Mass will be at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Temperance, MI, on Saturday at 11 AM, with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Interment will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery.
