Obituary Condolences

MC KISSON Daniel C. Daniel C. McKisson, 63, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2010, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Dan was born in Toledo, Ohio on December 7, 1946, to George F. and Christine (Close) McKisson, Sr. He was a Vietnam Veteran, who served in the Navy on active duty aboard the USS Lyman K. Swenson. Dan graduated from Ottawa Hills High School, received his undergraduate degree from Northern Michigan University, and a MA in Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University. He was employed by the Berrien County Health Department, Benton Harbor, Michigan, for twenty years as a drug and alcohol abuse counselor. He also worked at Psychology Associates, P.C., of St. Joseph, Michigan for fifteen years with Dr. Frederick Sulier, who said, "Dan's work at my practice was exemplary. You could sense his vulnerability and compassion, and he always left you smiling and knowing that you were valued. I always believed that Dan's chief mission was to bring good feelings to others. He was one of the 'good guys'." Surviving are his father and mother, George F. and Christine McKisson Sr.; his beloved son, Seth Daniel McKisson of St. Joseph, Michigan; his brothers, George F. (Sharon) McKisson, Jr. and Allan W. (Mary) McKisson; his three nephews, Henry W. III, Michael S., and Christopher N., and two nieces, Katherine F. and Margaret C. The family wishes to acknowledge Daniel W. Ertman of Benton Harbor, Michigan, a professional associate and loyal friend of Dan. A graveside service will be held at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. on October 16. The family suggests in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to a charity of the donor's choice or Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Road in Perrysburg, Ohio for their merciful care of Dan.
