Gerald R. RECKER

RECKER Gerald R. Gerald "Jerry" Recker, age 75, of Genoa, OH, passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania, OH. He was born on January 23, 1935, to the late Charles W. and Lynda M. (Bringman) Recker of Genoa, OH. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Ruth Gross, Dorothy Sibbersen, Mary Johnson, Helen Heminger, Betty Bailey, Lucy Stagner and Alice Neikirk and brothers, James, Charles W. Jr., and Wayne. Jerry graduated from Lake High School in 1953. He worked as a carpenter for several area contractors. He joined the Air National Guard and served for 30 years as an Air Technician and member of the fire brigade in the 180th Tactical Fighter Group, rising to the rank of Master Sgt. He retired in 1992. Further employment was with Andersons of Toledo and Mini Engine of Perrysburg. Jerry was a 50-year member of the Knights of Pythias Concord Walbridge Lodge #20. Surviving are his wife, Doris (Dennis); sons, Rodney (Jennifer) of Shelton, CT and Ryan (Kathy) of North Ridgeville OH; grandchildren, Alexander, Bryant, John Michael, Luke, Kathryn, and Leahann (to be born in December); sisters-in-law, Violet Recker, Sally Blair, and Susan Smith; brothers-in-law, Geoff Dennis and Robert Smith and many nieces and nephews. His wishes were to donate his body to the University of Toledo College of Medicine. A memorial gathering will be held at Solomon Lutheran Church in Woodville on November 14 at 2:30pm.
