Fred comes to mind often. Today I as again working on my 1968 MGB/GT Fred comes to mind. I could have used his knowledge on carburetors today, but I got through it. I know if he was here we would be still arguing about how to do the job. I would say to him, "if you can do it better, you do it". Then, wait for it, he would say "When I was in the Marines". I wished I hadn't said a thing. He was a true Marine.
With all that said, I looked up to him and all the fellows of his error. They were my idles as a youngster growing up in Toledo.

Janis and I loved riding our motorcycle with Fred and his friends, Nat, Venus, Robert, others. He was a handsome, kind, thoughtful, caring man with a big heart. We will miss his gentle nature, sense of humor, and his companionship. May he rest in peace.

Cumberland family; I worked with Fred in the experimental lab at Dana Corporation in Toledo. When his garage was broken into and all his tools stolen, he would use my tools until his were replaced. We shared the same birthday and always said we were brothers. Rest in Peace my friend.

My condolence to the Cumberland family for Fred is Missed. I met Fred as a young man in Toledo through my older brother Raymond Green. Most young Black kids back in the day (late 50's) looked up to him and his friend Cigar because they were avid car junkies or racers. They would beat the best at the Toledo Auto Race Track. It took more than 40 years before I would meet Fred again, this time in Sacramento. I would call him Jar Head because he was an ex-Marine with a Marine way of talking to me. We would argue about everything, you see I was an ex-Air Force person, however, we never miss helping each other when ask. Thanks again for your help with my car. Your in-put help to win 2nd place in the auto show. I miss you already buddy.

With his help, I won second place in an auto show 2009.

I extend my sincerest condolence to the entire Cumberland Family and relatives, in the passing of their "Uncle Freddie". I have fond memories, growing up in Toledo, being invited to their family parties and barbeques, on Broer. Shooting 'hoops' at Ella P. with Roscoe, romping and playing with the Talley brothers. My mom (A. Dean Mack Morris) went to school with the Cumberland's, so we all feel the pain and sadness of this loss. May he rest in peace.

My heart is so heavy, my prayers go out to the Cumberland family. I remember being so afraid of Mr.Cumberland as a child because he was a man who said what he meant, and meant what he said! I am so thankful for knowing the entire family. To Dana and her family stay strong and I will be praying for all of you.
With all my Love,
