CUMISKEY William J., Jr. June 22, 1923 ~ January 20, 2011 William J. Cumiskey, Jr., 87, of Waterville, peacefully passed away Thursday afternoon, January 20, 2011, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg after a brief illness. William was born June 22, 1923, in Toledo to William and Marguerite Cumiskey, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Margaret Cumiskey, Florence Kosuth, Mildred O"Brien; brothers, Lawrence and Robert Cumiskey and daughters, Sharon Kay Day and Frances Szalay. William attended Whitmer High School and was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps. He served his country in the Philippines and Pacific as a member of the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war he met the love of his life, Frances, and they were married June 22, 1944. He returned to his job at Doehler-Jarvis, where he retired in 1978 as Chief Shop Steward after 36 years of service. William enjoyed watching CNN and baseball on TV, the Toledo Zoo, playing cards, traveling and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Frances Cumiskey; sister, Dorothy (Harvey) Failor of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Michael (Kathleen) Schaffer of Rossford, Gregory Shaffer of Toledo, Daniel (Taury) Szalay of Haines City, FL; great-grandchildren, Christopher and David Schaffer and several nieces and nephews.
