SPITLER Carl Carl Spitler, 66, of Holland, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, January 30th, 2011, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Born in Willard, Ohio to Ralph and Doris (Bollinger) Spitler he was married on August 5th, 1967 to Carla Hurst in Perrysburg. Carl was a 1962 graduate of Perrysburg High School and he earned a BS in Education from Bowling Green State University in 1967. Throughout his years he taught Distributive Education at Port Clinton High School, where he also coached football and baseball from 1967-1970. He went on to coach Little League Baseball in Perrysburg where he was actively involved for many years. He worked for American Greetings Corporation for 20 years as a Sales Representative. In addition to his teaching and coaching, Carl was also an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing, NASCAR and spending time with his family. He'll be forever missed by his wife of 43 years, Carla; children, Scott (Katherine) Spitler of Overland Park, KS, Stephen Spitler of Cincinnati, OH, Shelley Merz of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Brandon, Jack, Samuel, Caroline and Isabella. Carl is also survived by his mother, Doris, along with 5 siblings, Patricia Irons, Ronald Spitler, Darl Spitler, John Spitler and Jane Vazquez as well as 14 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph, in 2003. Friends and family will be received at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg (419) 874-3133 on Friday, February 4th from 2 p.m. - 8 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 5th at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Fort Meigs Union Cemetery.
