HOOVEN Barbara M. Barbara M. Hooven, age 75, of Toledo, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2011, at the Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. She was born on September 24, 1936, in Toledo, OH to Carl and Marie (Adamkiewicz) Burlen. Barbara was a 1954 graduate of Central Catholic High School. She attended the St. Vincent School of Nursing and Mary Manse College, graduating with honors, and worked as a Surgical Nurse at St. Vincent Hospital for 20 years, retiring in 1985. A longtime parishioner of Regina Coeli Catholic Church, she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and active as a church festival worker and volunteer at the grade school. She was also a member of the Birthday Club with her sister Rose and friends. Barbara was a skilled baker and seamstress who enjoyed reading and tending her flower garden. She had a devout faith in the Lord, and always put everything in His hands. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Barbara had unconditional love for her children, always putting their needs ahead of her own. She loved all family get-togethers, whether camping, going to the lake, or just a simple meal together. She devoted her life to caring for her cherished family and home, and always reaching out to others. In addition to her parents, Carl and Marie, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Edward G. Hooven, and her sister, Colleen Silva. Surviving are her daughters, Catherine (Tony) Goodeman, Peggy (Randy) Hafner, and Jennifer (Rob) Lawson; sons, Michael (Patty Hendrick), James (Diana), Kenneth (Joanne), and Charles (Chris Baum) Hooven; 23 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Rose Veitch, and special mention to Denise Hooven and Jeanne Hooven. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. in the Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114-128 E. Alexis Rd., where members of the Regina Coeli Altar Rosary Society will lead a Rosary at 5 p.m. Funeral Services will begin on Thursday at 10:15 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Mt.
