Mary Louise (Barent) ALEXANDER Obituary
ALEXANDER Mary Louise (Barent) Mary Louise (Barent) Alexander made her journey into the Lord's arms on Friday, February 3, 2012, after years of illness and a short stay at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. Mary was born on June 20, 1944, to John and Emma Barent in Highland Park, Michigan. She was married to David A. Alexander and moved to Ohio. Mary was a longtime resident of Waterville where she proudly raised her family. Later she moved to Toledo. She worked at the Waterville Cablevision Company, Sanitary Cleaners, and was an active member of the Waterville Play Shop. Mary was also a dedicated parishioner of St. Joseph's Church, Maumee where she became the school librarian for 20 years. Nothing brought her more joy than reading to the children and loving them, as they loved her warm smile and kindness. Mary also worked at Lion Store and Dillard's as a manicurist/pedicurist until she retired in 2006. She took great pride in her work and much pleasure in meeting new clients that would become friends for life. A beloved and devoted mother, daughter, sister, aunt, godmother, and "Grammie", Mary enjoyed life to the fullest. She always said "to have friends, you must be a friend". The number of friends who have supported her throughout the years, and especially through her years of illness is a true testament of the friendship and love she always so willing gave to others. She loved to sing and dance, enjoyed theatre, telling stories, and jokes, dining out with her Alphabet Dinner Group, and playing Poker with her card club group. She was the life of the party, and knew no strangers. She was preceded in death her father, John C. Barent and is survived by her loving daughter and son, of Toledo, Lisa Alexander and David Alexander; mother, Emma Barent of Dearborn Heights; grandchildren, Dylan, Delaynee and Danielle Alexander; brother, Bill (Patricia) Barent, of Northville, MI; niece, Heather (Mike) Dennis, and many wonderful friends. Mary will be missed by every life she touched, both young and old, by her unconditional love and unending courage. Memories of her gracious personality and contagious laughter will remain close in our hearts forever. Family and friends would like to thank all of those who took such good care of her at St. Luke's Hospital and Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Visitation for Mary will be Monday, February 6, 2012, from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral and Crematory, 501 Conant St. Maumee, Ohio 43537. Mass of Chirstian Burial will be Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Maumee, Ohio, with prayers beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial funds be donated to St. Joseph Maumee School or Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Online condolences may be given at walkerfuneralhomes.com
