Todd Alan Francis HAFNER Obituary
HAFNER Todd Alan Francis Todd Alan Francis Hafner, age 49, of Point Place, passed away on Monday, April 23, 2012, at Mercy St. Anne Hospital. He was born on June 8, 1962, in Toledo, OH to Robert and Arlene (Gramza) Hafner. Todd was a graduate of St. John the Baptist Grade School, a 1980 graduate of Central Catholic High School, and a 1984 graduate of Bluffton University where he earned a degree in Marine Biology. A talented athlete, he received 9 of the possible 12 Varsity Letters while at Central Catholic and was inducted into their Football Hall of Fame in 2009. He also received All-American Honors at Bluffton University. Todd was employed as a supervisor at Johns Manville from 1984-1994. From 1994 to the present time he was owner and operator of Hafner's Hardwood Connection where he quickly became known for his skill as an artist and engraver. Although never in the military himself, he was proud to honor all Servicemen with his beautifully crafted flag cases. He was especially proud of the Centennial Cross he designed for the Toledo Catholic Diocese, and his craftsmanship will live on at CCHS in his numerous works there, including the Sullivan Center trophy case, the Eugene Krantz Moon Rock display case, the Gallagher Stadium football lockers, and many other unique pieces found throughout the school. A devout Catholic, Todd never missed a weekend Mass no matter where he traveled. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Lawrence Council. He was also a member of the Riverview Yacht Club. An avid outdoorsman, he was "Mr. Summer" and enjoyed time with family and friends hunting, fishing, golfing, boating and floating in the backyard pool. Todd golfed with the PSA golf league, and as a sub for the St. John's league. He also enjoyed hunting with his father, brothers, and son around Nettle Lake, OH. A devoted husband and father, Todd's greatest joy was being with his family. He took pride in his children's accomplishments and supported them in all they did. He impacted the world of Hockey by following his son's Hockey career to Quebec, Detroit, Windsor, Montreal, Lincoln, NE and Marquette, MI. He loved the Arts as well, and enjoyed spending time with his daughters at the dance studio and attending all of their performances. Todd touched many with his infectious smile and enthusiasm for life. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, Robert and Arlene; Todd is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Lorie (Hreben) Hafner; children, Audrie, Madilyn and Lukas Hafner; sisters, Michelle (Bill) White and Jaynee (Ron) Meisler; brothers, Robert (Liz), Gary (Caroline) and Tim (JoAnn) Hafner; mother-in-law, Eileen Hreben; brothers-in-law, John, Scott, Mark, Toby, and Ty Hreben; many nieces and nephews, and 4-legged "sons", Hershey and Rudy.
