Erhard Victor Stotz, age 92, of Ida, MI died Friday morning in his home, the Stotz family farm, while under the care of Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Born February 26, 1920, in the family farm home in Ida Township, Erhard was the son of Adolph H. and Rose (Metz) Stotz. A 1937 Ida High School graduate, he served in the US Army in WWII.
He married Donna Woelmer on October 6, 1951, at East Ida Immanuel Lutheran Church, Monroe, MI. Erhard worked the family farm all his life and also was a mail handler for Star-Route Mail.
Survivors include his
wife, Donna; four sons, Dr. Walter "Wally" (Dr. Joan Duggan), Steve (Jeanette), William (Dolores), and
Richard (Leila); two daughters, Rosmary (Thomas)
Assenmacher and Kristine Stotz-Bogedain; sixteen grandchildren; three step grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, and
five step great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Harold and Herbert and a sister, Lydia Heck.
Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, 8216 Ida West Road, Ida, MI on Monday, August 20, 2012, from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday, August 21, from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. He will lie in state at East Ida Immanuel Lutheran Church, Monroe, MI from 10-11 a.m., until services at 11 a.m. Rev. Bruce Lucas will officiate. Burial will be in East Ida Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Ida. MI.
