Milton D.

Milton D. Calcamuggio, of Toledo, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2012, in Hospice of Northwest Ohio Toledo at the age of 81. He was born in Toledo to Carl L. and E. Marie (Demuth) Calcamuggio on April 19, 1931. He attended Scott High School and graduated from Macomber. Milton commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the United States Army and retired from the Army Reserves as a Major. He participated competitively with the marksmanship shooting team.

In 1954, he received his electrical engineering degree from the University of Toledo and was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. While at the university he met his future wife, Jill Turner. They were married in 1957 and had two sons, Richard Turner Calcamuggio and Carl David Calcamuggio. He began his professional career with the Toledo Edison in 1956 as an assistant electrical engineer and retired in 1990 as an electrical engineering supervisor after 36 years of service.

Milton was an enthusiastic boater and enjoyed many trips to Lake Huron and through the North Channel. He also enjoyed wood working, photography and reading. His primary hobby though was his children and grandchildren.

His memberships included TAMOAA, the Coast Guard Auxiliary, the Antique and Classic Boat Society, Bayview Yacht Club, the 1949 Scott H.S. Alumni group, Harbor Light Lodge No. 746 F. & A.M. and St. Paul's Lutheran Church-Downtown where he served on the church council. Along with his wife, he was a long time member of the Toledo Roadrunners Club where he graciously volunteered while Jill ran. Milton enjoyed officiating for Track and Field events with the Ohio High School Athletic Assn. He also was a member of the University of Toledo Golden Alumni and was an enthusiastic supporter of the Lady Rockets Basketball team.

Many friends throughout his lifetime touched and influenced his life as he influenced theirs.

His parents, brothers, Glen, Spencer and Carl Jr.; sisters in law, Marjorie and Renza and son, Carl, all preceded him in death.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Jill; son, Rick (Lisa); daughter-in-law, Jennifer; grandchildren, Sara, Nathan, Ryan, Corey, and Nicholas; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Darlene and Nona, and many loving nieces and nephews.
