Israel "Bud" Jr.

Israel "Bud" Putman Jr., age 80, of Wauseon and longtime resident of Delta, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, Friday night, November 16, 2012, at the Fulton County Health Center. He was born on December 29, 1931, in Wauseon, to the late Israel R. Putman Sr. and Edna (Bollman) Putman. Bud was a graduate of Fulton High School in AI. After graduation he served during the Korean War with the U.S. Marine Corps. Upon returning from service he married Loa Hupp on June 7, 1958. Bud retired from Plaskon Co. in Toledo, where he was a color operator for many years. He was a 33 Degree Mason and past Master with Fulton Lodge #248 F&AM and member of Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo. Bud also served as a past Grand Chaplin with the State Masonic Rite, as well as several other positions with the Masons. He was a member of the Delta American Legion Post # 373 and the Delta United Methodist Church. Bud fostered life-long friendships and goodwill towards his community through his involvement in the Masonic lodge and in other areas. Bud was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed playing high school and college basketball, but was most proud watching his children and grandchildren on the hardcourts, ball fields, pools, ice rinks and theater stages. He was also an avid fan of the University of Toledo and Tennessee Lady Vols basketball programs.

In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Putman Phillips, in May of 2011. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Loa Putman; children, Mike Putman, Denise (James) Ahle and Gail (Rick) Roe; son-in-law, Joseph Phillips; grandchildren, Jenelle (Eric) Stevens, Craig Knierim, Krista Roe, Lauren Ahle, Emily Ahle, Justin, Marissa and Jordyn Phillips, and great-grandson, Tucker Knierim.

Visitation will be held at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy. 109 in Delta on Monday, November 19, 2012, from 2:00-5:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m., with a Masonic service beginning at 7:30 followed by an American Legion Service. A funeral service celebrating Bud's life will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, at the Delta United Methodist Church, 101 Northwood Dr., Delta, Ohio 43515. Pastor Jay Miklovic will be officiating. Interment will follow at Fulton Union Church Cemetery, 5232 Co. Rd. HJ in Delta.
