Frederick "Fred" L.



Frederick "Fred" L. Drogmiller of the Point/Shoreland Community passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, in Orchard Villa, Bay Shore Commons at the age of 87. For many years Fred worked as a carpenter and realtor. Fred worked as a lumber salesman for several lumber yards; Kelsey S. Freeman, Timberline, Toledo Lumber and Bellman & Gallant. He was a long time member of Point Place United Church of Christ. Fred was a proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran to whom his country is grateful for his service. While in the Marine Corps, he was in the International Guard Band playing the tuba and also served as a bugler. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 3265, University of Toledo Band, Toledo Power Squadron (Instructor) and Executive Officer. Fred also was very active in the Masonic community, belonging to Sanford L. Collins Lodge#396, Northern Light Lodge #40 and Harbor Light Lodge #746 F.&A.M. which he had been Past Master of all 3; he was also Scottish Rite 32nd degree.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrich and Elizabeth Elsie Pauline (Noffke) Drogmiller; wife, Vivian (2001); brother and sister; Elizabeth Kruger, Norman E. Drogmiller; brother-in-law, Elmer Clark; sister-in-law, Charlotte Gokey; cousins, Virginia Shulz Barbara Benson and Carol Bowles. Left to cherish his memory are loving daughter and son-in-law, Liesa (Randy) Szymanski; grandchildren, Evan (Sherri McKibben) Szymanski and Benjamin Szymanski; nieces and nephews, Cheryl Winter, Beth Ann Wolfe, Richard Kruger, David Kruger and Kathy Spino; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Sulzer.

Memorial visitation will begin on Sunday, November 25, 2012, in the David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 N. Summit St., Toledo, OH 43611, (419.726.1583) from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. Memorial Services will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jon Komperda officiating. Interment will be private. Per Fred's request that there be no flowers, those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider Point Place United Church of Christ, 4920 - 297th Street, Toledo, OH 43611.
