Frank J. Wilcox, age 70, passed away Friday, January 4, 2013, at his home in Sylvania Township. Frank was born on February 20, 1942, in Toledo, Ohio to John and Marion Wilcox. He attended Ladyfield Catholic School, and graduated from St. Francis de Sales High School in 1960. Frank was a lifelong Toledo resident who made his career in real estate. He was a member of the Toledo Board of Realtors, the Maumee River Yacht Club, and the Crew's Nest on Put-In-Bay. He loved the water and spent many summer days around Lake Erie at Port Clinton, Catawba Island, and Put-In-Bay.
Frank was a funny man. Anyone who knew him surely thought of him as one of the funniest people they ever encountered. He had an easy wit, whether he knew it or not. His unique parlance and unforgettable mannerisms will forever form a part of his family's memory. He was a loving and caring man who was always willing to put others before himself. Those who will so sorely miss him can always take comfort in knowing that they were acquainted with a one of a kind person.
Frank's memory will be cherished by all who knew him, especially his best friend and partner, Barbara Vass; his children, Jacqueline Wilcox, Sarah (Dave) Latta, and their mother Marsha Loos, Colleen (Douglas) Long, Frank J. Wilcox Jr. (Tracy Gehlert), and their mother Patricia Duck Wilcox; his grandchildren, Emily Komisarek, Allison and Andrew Latta, and Megan, Cailin, Brendan and Ryan Long. Frank will be sorely missed by his sisters, Victoria (Daniel) Krauss, and Joan (Bob Kefalonitis) Slott, and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of a new granddaughter, his son's first child. Frank cherished the relationships he had with his nieces and nephews, Mary (Terry) Ryan, Amory (Nancy) Slott, Carolyn Slott, David (Alison) Krieger Jr., John Krauss, Victoria (Carl Schaffer) Krauss. Frank had a special relationship with Barbara's daughter, Michelle (Daren) Short, and her children, Ashley Riggie, Shawna Whitaker, and Alexandria and Brock Short. He will also be greatly missed by his many dear friends. Preceding him in death were his parents and his nephew, Peter Krauss.
