Geraldine "Gerry" Florence



Geraldine "Gerry" Florence Smith, 88, passed away April 14, 2013, at Ebeid Hospice. She was born March 7, 1925, to Edward and Viola Kaman. Gerry grew up in and Sandusky and graduated from Sandusky High School in 1943. She married William "Hap" L. Smith June 5, 1943, who preceded her in death January 12, 1988. A stay at home mother of 4, Gerry was devoted to raising her children and caring for ailing friends and relatives. She was a member of Holy Angels Church in Sandusky, where she sang in the Holy Angels Choir and choral society and served as the cafeteria manager of Holy Angels School. She moved to Toledo in 1994 and joined Blessed Sacrament Church where she volunteered at the parish office and was a member of the bereavement and senior groups. Well know by everyone at Blessed Sacrament as "GrammaGerry". She loved bus trips, going to shows, playing cards, reading and attending her grandchildren's various activities. She will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul who knew the true meaning of love, and that always gave 100% of herself to her friends and family.

Gerry is survived by her son, Daniel L. Smith (Linda); David L. Smith (Linda); daughter, Lori M. Noltner (Bill); grandchildren, Laura Petit, Lee Smith, Chad O'Donnell, Kelly Poggiali, Kim Edwards, Carey Smith, Bill O' Donnell, Michael O'Donnell, David O'Donnell, Emilee Noltner, Zachary Noltner, Sarah Noltner, Damon Noltner; great-grandchildren, Tyson Smith, Montana Smith, Connor Smith, Lani Petit, Erin O'Donnell, Sean O' Donnell, Ryan O' Donnell, Grace Edwards, Maggie Edwards, Brady Edwards, Sal Poggiali, Sydney Smith, Peyton Smith, David Graves, Derek Graves, and Annabel O'Donnell. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane L. O'Donnell; brother, Edward and sister, Eileen.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Church (prayers will be recited at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m.). Friends are invited to visit from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Ansberg-west Funeral Home 3000 Sylvania Avenue where a Scripture Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament Parish.
