Helen "Nana" Jones, 87, the matriarch of the Jones family, died Tuesday morning, surrounded by family following a very short illness. Helen was special to everyone who knew her. She lived her life with a positive attitude and a great sense of humor. She was a crossword puzzle, Boggle, and card playing champ. Her competitive nature made her a fun opponent whenever she was thrown a challenge. "The Nonster" also loved betting on sports against family members and baking pies for friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Richard (Dee) Jones and daughters, Linda (Thorne) Silverberg, Suellyn (Douglas) Matney and honorary daughter, Judy Wright. Also grandchildren, Marshall and Wade Jones, John (Sheryl) and Adam Rihacek and Elise Matney; along with honorary grandchildren, Ron Durbin, Denise Spatafore and Christina Pugh. She is also survived by brothers, Jim (Jeanna) Zentgraf and Dale Perry along with extra special cousins, Rita and John Ott and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Buck; son, Casey, and son-in-law, Bob Rihacek.
Helen's family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff of Hospice Northwest Ohio.
In lieu of donations - Nana would just like it if you took your family out for a nice meal.
You're invited to a memorial service at St. Rose Church in Perrysburg on Friday July 5, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. with an informal gathering to follow.
