Jeffrey Litzenberg Obituary

LITZENBERG

Jeffrey C. "Jeff"

Jeffrey C. "Jeff" Litzenberg passed away in South Carolina on Saturday, August 4, 2013, after a lingering illness. The beloved husband of Maryellen (McGondel) Litzenberg, he was sixty six years of age.

Born in Toledo Ohio, he was the son of the late George and Delphine Litzenberg. Raised and educated there he was a graduate of Rogers High School in Toledo. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served his country proudly for four years during the Vietnam War.

Maryellen and Jeff had their first introduction to each other during a snowstorm fender bender on Rt 38. They began dating shortly after their first meeting and in June of 1970 they were married.

He secured a position at Raytheon where he worked for a good number of years, retiring in 2012. In his spare time it was golf, motorcycles and the Ohio State "Buckeyes."

Jeff was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He had a wonderful sense of humor and it was very easy for him to make friends. Whether on the golf course or on his Harley on a Sunday afternoon, it was all good.

He and Maryellen had traveled several times over to Ireland but their most favorite spot was Washington, DC. No trip there was ever complete without a visit to the Vietnam Memorial.

As the years went by and the grandchildren arrived, he was thrilled to be called Grandpy and had spent many special times with them.

Jeff was predeceased by his parents.

In addition to his wife, Maryellen (McGondel) Litzenberg, of forty-three years, Jeff is lovingly survived by his children, Jeffrey A. Litzenberg and his wife Lori of Amesbury, David B. Litzenberg of California, Andrew G. Litzenberg and his wife Michelle of Nahant and Michael J. Litzenberg and his wife Jennifer of Chicago; his siblings, "Gigi" Geordelle Metzger and Madonna Poturalski, both of Ohio; his grandchildren, Joshua T. and Kristin M. Litzenberg, and his in-laws, Barry McGondel and his wife Janet, Bartholomew "Bart" McGondel, all of Woburn, Janice Murphy of Maine, Brian McGondel and his wife Debbie of Woburn, Robert McGondel, and Beth Ann Carney, both of Woburn.

Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at 9 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn at 10. So sorry to hear of the passing of Jeff. I attended Little Flower Grade School as well as Rogers HS with Jeff. I remember seeing him and sharing memories at the Rogers Reunion of 1995. My sympathy to his family on the loss of an obviously wonderful husband and father.
