Chuck Duricek Obituary

DURICEK

Chuck

Chuck Duricek, 59, of Rossford passed away unexpectedly of natural causes early Thanksgiving morning, November 28, 2013. His family planned to celebrate his 60th birthday the following day. He was born November 29, 1953, to Charles and Mary (Dandar) Duricek.

His memory is cherished by his beloved wife of 37 years (August 14, 1976), Pamela (Domalski) Duricek; sons, Nicholas and Nathan (Meaghan); grandson, Ethan; an expected granddaughter; brother, Michael (Robin), sisters, Mary Jo Moreton and Theresa Duricek; mother-in-law, Patricia Domalski; and many loyal friends. He is preceded in death by both his parents, and his father-in-law, Gerald Domalski.

A 1971 graduate of Cardinal Stritch High School, Chuck lived an active life of service to his family and to his community. He made time to bring his wife a cup of coffee and a newspaper on her days off, and he spent countless hours helping his sons renovate their homes. He coached youth soccer teams, served as club president for the Rossford Travel Soccer Club, planned and was chairman for the Toledo Antique and Classic Boat Show, and served chicken paprikas dinners at All Saints Catholic Church for ten years. He was very proud to have served two terms on Rossford City Council, and, after earning the highest number of votes in November's election, was eagerly anticipating serving a third term.

Mechanically minded and a very talented craftsman, Chuck loved to restore antique boats, cars, and houses. He spent 40 years managing the business his father founded in 1952, and took immense pride in the job that he loved.

Always ready for a friendly debate over a cup of coffee or Saturday morning breakfast with his friends at the Bulldog Diner, Chuck's welcoming and generous nature was very well known. He was a man of strong character who boldly stood by his principles. His legacy of generosity continues through his gift of organ donation. He will be remembered by many, but forgotten by none.

Family and friends may visit at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford, 830 Lime City Rd. on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, from 2 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2013, at All Saints Catholic Church in Rossford at 10 a.m., where the family will greet visitors beginning at 9 a.m. Interment will follow at Ft. Meigs Cemetery in Perrysburg. The family suggests that memorial contributions in Chuck's memory be made to Honor Flight of Northwest Ohio. To Chuck's family, I would stop by his gas station, for a visit to see how he was getting along. We were at Stritch together and always got along. He was one of the good guys and will be missed by many. I first heard what happened at the funeral of another classmate.

To the entire Duricek family,

I was so shocked and sorry to hear about Chuck's passing. I grew up with the Duricek family going to grade school at St. Cyril's with Chuck and my parents and his parents belonging to the Rossford American Legion. Also, the service station was the only place that my dad would have his car serviced at. Chuck was a great guy who truly cared about everybody he met and especially about the community of Rossford, not everybody who grows up in Rossford stays in Rossford. He will truly be missed by my family and the community. You are all in my thoughts and prayers especially during this holiday season. Always remember the good times you had with Chuck and know that he is looking down from heaven watching over you.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Duricek family. I have many happy memories of helping with the chicken paprikas carry-out dinners at All Saints and joking and laughing with Chuck. Chuck and Mike serviced my cars for years and I am totally grateful to them for providing warm and caring service. The Duricek family accepted me as a (non-born Rossfordite) and I loved serving with them at St. Cyrils and All Saints. They are a very special Rossford family and I am grateful that I knew them. I will miss Chuck and my thoughts and prayers are with the family he leaves behind. God Bless.

Chuck was always so good to me. Knowing that I needed guidance about my car, and being alone, I always knew he wouldn't steer me wrong, I could trust him. I will miss our talks and joking when I take my car in. Thanks Chuck for being a fair person in your life. Say hi to Robert for me. Till we all meet again, R.I.P.

I am deeply sorry to hear about chucks sudden passing I will miss talking to him about cars, boats and whatever was on his mind at that time He was good friend, boss and just someone you could talk to about anything he will be very missed

December 3, 2013

Our deepest condolences to the Duricek families. Chuck was a special man. He was always ready and willing to answer any question I had concerning my vehicles and honest enough to tell me I didn't need something that I thought I would. He was very kind to my Mother and helped her many times with her questions about her car and her car related problems... He set an awful high standard to continue on in his legacy and I'm sure his sons and brother Mike will step up to the counter and carry on! May all your wonderful Memories help heal the hurt your heart is feeling at this sad time. With deepest sympathy, Teresa (Grant) Marzec and family. Toledo OH

I am so sorry to hear about Chuck! So many platitudes reflect his character as both Father and Son! I will miss visiting him to show the latest GM toys I am working on here in Detroit! Chuck always greeted me with a smile, along with Mike and same as his Dad! My prayer is that God provide you all the comfort and strength needed these coming days and peace in the many memories you share as a family. I'm blessed to have shared the same home town as many have stated here. It's what makes visiting so nice. However there will be an emptiness on the highway. God Bless the entire Durciek Family, and the entire community as you reflect on Chuck's life of contributions to that little town on the river full of big hearts like Chucks!

Such a deep loss for the Duricek family and for the Rossford community. Chuck was a very good man, and a great family man. The memories are all so good...All the holiday cookouts on Lorraine Place, stopping at the station when cruising thru Rossford, asking Chick's advice and always getting assistance on any mechanical problem. A family has lost a wonderful paternal leader and a community has lost a passionate, principled, and pragmatic defender of our fair town. His love of Rossford was very evident, and we all owe him and his family our deepest gratitude for all the hours of service he performed. He will be sorely missed and a inspiration to whoever endeavors to follow in his footsteps. Our community now draws together to offer comfort and tribute to his family. God bless Chuck; he has earned his rest, and many blessings upon his grieving family.

I was honored to have one true friend in life. Chuck was a man of integrity, who loved his community. He never demanded, but was entitled to respect. To the Duricek families: We are numb with this sudden loss of a true friend. Again, this seems not right. Chuck was in his prime and so much ahead yet to accomplish. But then, our strong religious faith too, teaches us Our Lord says "Chuck, your good work here on earth is done and it is time to come Home to Heaven".
Part of Rossford will be missing when we come back to town, without a visit with Chuck. We will miss him but are so ever grateful our lives touched over the years through vehicle services, and working with the City of Rossford. Rest now, our dear friend, in Jesus' arms. We pray too, He will also grant Pam, Nick and families, the peace and strength they need now and the days ahead.
