Donald R. Anderson, age 91, passed away peacefully in the presence of family members on Saturday, November 30, 2013, at Flower Hospital. The son of Walter and Ruth Anderson, he was born July 26, 1922, in Chicago, IL. He was a graduate of Libbey High School and attended Wheaton College. Following his sophomore year, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps Air Division, serving in WWII and the Korean War. He was honorably discharged with the rank of captain. Don married the love of his life, Mary Jane Snider, on September 2, 1944. He was president of Anderson

Construction for 23 years

and then president of

Fresh Products, until his

retirement in 1987. For 29 years, he and his wife spent their winter months in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Don was a member of First Alliance Church, where he played in the orchestra for 70 years, sang in the men's quartet, and served on a number of building committees. He was also a past member of the Toledo Symphony Orchestra, enjoyed playing tennis and golf, and was a regular in the Retirees Golf Club.

He is survived by his wife

of 69 years, Mary Jane Anderson; sister, Doris Anderson; children, Carol (Paul) Wise, Jack (Carolyn) Anderson, Debra (Richard) Bradish, Tamara (James) Arnold; 14 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Elaine Otte.

Friends may visit the family on Thursday, December 5, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. Funeral services will be held Friday, 11 a.m., at First Alliance Church, 2201 Monroe St., Toledo, OH 43624. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider First Alliance Church. Condolences may be shared with the family at
