Gerard "Jerry"

Gerard "Jerry" Jacobs was born to Wm. B. and Cecelia M. (Spenthoff) Jacobs on

October 7, 1931. He was a life long Toledoan. He valued friendship as he remained in contact with his grade school friends from Immaculate Conception elementary school with yearly reunions for the last 65 years. He

attended Central Catholic High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a communications sergeant and later became a paratrooper for the 101st Airborne.

In 1954, he married the love of his life, Josephine Davie. He worked for Texaco Oil Co. He then excelled in sales for the Colonial Builders Co. earning many vacation trips around the US, Mexico, and once to Rome, Italy. He

continued his career with

his own home improvement company doing much business in Toledo and Henry County. Jerry lived by the motto "I will not tolerate an unhappy customer."

Jerry and Josie traveled to Ft. Lauderdale, FL every winter for 35 years; enjoying the beach and ocean with friends and family at the Coral Cay. They belonged to St. Clement Catholic Church 53 years and celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary there. He loved his fellow parishioners and serving his church.

He was active in the American Legion. He was the final Commander of the WW1 Dean Horton Navy, American Legion Post #108. Jerry transferred to the Conn-Weissenburger Post # 587. He was Secretary / Treasurer for The Toledo Lucas County Memorial Day Association. He helped coordinate the annual Memorial Day Parade in Toledo and installed American flags on veteran's graves throughout Lucas County.

He enjoyed being a pilot, scuba diver and craftsman. He loved telling jokes and had a great sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his wife; son, Chris, and granddaughter, Natasha Jacobs. He is survived by his sons, Peter and Steven of Toledo; daughter, Karen Miller (Randy) of Temperance MI.; grandchildren, Christopher Jacobs, Elizabeth Iagulli, Nicholas Jacobs and Cassandra


Family and friends may visit at the Urbanski Funeral Home, 5055 Secor Rd., Toledo, OH on Sunday,

December 8, from 2-8 p.m., where the Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Funeral

services will begin Monday,

December 9, at 9 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church, 3030 Tremainsville Rd., Toledo, OH 43613, where the Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery Toledo, Ohio.
