Emmett C. Sr.

Emmett C. Beavers Sr., age 93, of Toledo, passed away peacefully, Friday, December 20, 2013, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 20, 1920, to Grover and Lillian (Miller) Beavers in Christiana, Tennessee. Emmett was a 1940 graduate of Jesup W. Scott High School, where he met the love of his life, Jean Lindley. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving his country proudly during WWII, receiving 3 bronze stars. Emmett was employed as a master millwright with GM Powertrain for many years before retiring. He was a longtime member of the Sylvania Pyramid Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and was in the director staff with the Zenobia Shrine. Emmett enjoyed bowling and hunting. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Emmett will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of almost 71 years, Jean Beavers, June 30, 2013; and 12 brothers and sisters. Emmett is survived by his children, Emmett (Sylvia Clark) Beavers Jr., Linda Jean Beavers and Charles (Diane) Beavers; 6 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 7 step great-grandchildren; twin brothers, Gene (Alice) and Glenn Beavers; special nephew, Gary (Carolyn) Hodgson; special neighbors, James (Lydia) Eck and Gilbert (Wanda) Trevino; special friends, Oscar Bunch, Ray Wood and Marianne Ballas, and many other relatives and dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Thursday from 3-8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Masonic Services in the evening. Funeral Services will begin Friday at 11 a.m. at Epworth United Methodist Church, 3077 Valley View Dr., Ottawa Hills, OH 43615 with visitation one hour prior in the church. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.

The family would like to give a special thank you to all of the staff and caregivers with ProMedica Hospice for all of their love, care and support given to Emmett and his family through this difficult time.
